The CBA's Community Archaeology Resource
The Ancient Cwmbran and the Cistercians Project aims to investigate several sites of archaeological interest in the Thornhill and Greenmeadow areas of Cwmbran over a 12 month period. This work will be carried out with volunteers from the community. The project will also celebrate the medieval pilgrim heritage of the area through a complimentary art project, to produce an effigy of St Derfel, a medieval crop growing project and the production of a circular heritage walk leaflet for the area.

Our list of programs and events can be found on our website, By Clicking Here.

This is a Heritage Lottery Funded program that is aimed at the local community to learn more about the heritage of Cwmbran. Our partners include University of Wales, Newport, The Gwent-Glamorgan Archaeological Trust, Torfaen Museum Trust, Torfaen County Borough Council, Cwmbran Historical Society, Thornhill Communities First and Greenmeadow Community Farm.

We are very much a hands on project that cover a wide range of activities.
