CBA Community Archaeology Workshop Saturday 12th September
The CBA is pleased to announce a Community Archaeology Workshop on Saturday 12th September in Leicester.
The event will take place at the Jewry Wall Museum, kindly hosted by the Leicestershire Museums Archaeological Fieldwork Group.
This is a day-long event, starting at 10am and finishing at 5.30pm. The aim of the day is to bring practitioners involved with community archaeology in the UK together in one place in order to share ideas, network, and identify ways forward. There will be a number of very short sessions examining various case studies, including the long tradition of community archaeology in Leicestershire, Archaeology Scotland’s Adopt-a-Monument project, and the recent community excavation of a Victorian terraced house at Heeley City Farm in Sheffield. The CBA will be feeding back the preliminary results of its research into the community archaeology sector in the UK, and inviting comments on its plans for a new online Community Archaeology Forum.
There will be a discussion session in the afternoon, and the day is concluded with a guided walk taking in the archaeology of Leicester City Centre.
A full programme can be found here∞ [PDF|14kb].
Attendance is free but places are extremely limited, so if you wish to book please contact Suzie Thomas∞ as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
