He has worked previously at the University of Reading, the University of Leicester, and Cardiff University. His publications include the edited volume Agency Uncovered: archaeological perspectives on social agency, power and being human (2004, Left Coast Press), and An Archaeology of Identity: soldiers and society in late Roman Britain (2007, Left Coast Press). His research interests centre upon the social dynamics of Roman imperialism, the role of material culture in the expression of cultural identity, and the ways in which people in different societies understand time.
Dr. Peter Guest (Co-Director, Priory Field; Director, Southern Canabae)is Senior Lecturer in Roman Archaeology at the University of Cardiff. His research interests include the role and use of coinage, the impact of Roman ideas and customs on native societies, funerary practices and beliefs in the afterlife in the Roman world and the social and cultural changes that occurred during Late Antiquity. He is an active field archaeologist and has excavated several Romano-British sites in Wales and England. Peter's major publications include Guest, P and Wells, N. Iron Age & Roman Coins from Wales (2007, Moneta) and Guest, P.S.W. The Late Roman Gold and Silver Coins from the Hoxne Treasure (2005, British Museum Press).
