Identifying your finds: a beginner’s guide to what to look for
These pages provide a starting point for people who have made a chance find in their garden or for youth leaders and teachers who have carried out one of the exercises suggested in Archaeological Finds and the Classroom. Here you can find basic tips about how to identify some of the commonest finds together with appropriate links to take your researches further. The presentation also includes some useful guidelines on the conservation and storage of metal objects from Amy Cooper of the Portable Antiquities Scheme.
