Meneage Archaeology Group (MAG)
ObjectivesMAG works to promote the historic environment of the Meneage and Lizard Peninsula and seeks to engage the local community in the archaeology and history that surrounds them.
HistoryDuring the Autumn of 2003 a number of local people helped out on an English Heritage funded excavation at Boden, near Manaccan on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. The exciting discoveries there (see links) inspired them to get more involved in the history and archaeology around them, leading to the formation of MAG in 2006.
MAG events have included guided walks, talks, field-walking, finds washing and finds identification days and small excavation projects.
MembersMAG members come from all walks of life and include farmers, geologists, museum professionals, artists, professional archaeologists and students.
They have one thing in common - they are all passionate about the historic environment that surrounds them in this unique part of the country.
MAG subscription costs £10 per annum - please contact Sally Ealey on firstname.lastname@example.org or James Gossip on email@example.com for further details on how to join.
