Deletions:
From 5-27 July 2008, volunteers led by Kent County Council's archaeologists are excavating within Shorne Woods Country Park. We dug there for one week in 2006, for two weeks in 2007 and this year we will be digging on site for three weeks.
So far we have uncovered the manor's kitchen with a fantastic stone hearth, a bakehouse, various storerooms and the edge of the main 'hall' house... or so we think...

Additions:
The park is just north of the A2 between Rochester and Gravesend and hides a medieval manor house deep in its woods. Nothing survives above ground of the manor's buildings, but the buried foundations are extensive. The buildings stand on an artificially levelled plateau about 40 x 65 metres in size, with a series of fish ponds running down the slope alongside. We dug there for one week in 2006, for two weeks in 2007 and this year we will be digging on site for three weeks.
