Guidance Notes for Local Archaeological Societies

The West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service as part of its objective to support voluntary organisations in the region and to improve access to the historic environment, has been producing a series of online guides aimed at helping Community Archaeology Groups with their work. The titles already online are:

Communities in Action

WYAAS have just released an addition to this series: A Guide to making a Photographic Record of Old Buildings. The guide offers useful hints on how to prepare for your recording session, what type of cameras to use and what aspects of a building you should consider taking images of.

A Guide to making a Photographic Record of Old Buildings and all the other Guidance Notes for Local Societies can be viewed by following the link from the listing page at www.arch.wyjs.org.uk/AdvSrv/GuidanceNotes.htm.

An even more recent addition is the Guide to Producing a Leaflet, which will be available online through the West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service website soon.

We will continue to add to this material as time and resources allow.
