Guidance Notes for Local Archaeological Societies
The West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service as part of its objective to support voluntary organisations in the region and to improve access to the historic environment, has been producing a series of online guides aimed at helping Community Archaeology Groups with their work. The titles already online are:
- Site Location;
- Writing your Fieldwork Report;
- Using Old Maps;
- Guide to Preparing for Archaeological Fieldwork;
- Guide to interpreting historic place names in West Yorkshire;
- Suggested Tool list for Small Scale Archaeological Excavations;
- Looking at Old Photographs;
- Guide to making a Photographic Record of Old Buildings, and
- Guide to Producing a Leaflet

All of the Guidance Notes for Local Societies can be viewed by following the link from the listing page at www.archaeology.wyjs.org.uk/GuidanceNotes.htm∞.
We will continue to add to this material as time and resources allow.
