Page view:West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Day School
Saturday 14th November, Royal Armouries, Leeds
The West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service is holding its tenth annual day school at the Royal Armouries, Leeds. Why not join us for this popular event?
The morning sessions will bring you up to date with the wide range of archaeological work that has taken place in West Yorkshire over the last year. This includes archaeological excavations and historic building surveys carried out in advance of development, as well as investigations by local archaeological societies, including some exciting prehistoric finds in a wood north of Bradford as well as what may be a nationally important pottery kiln discovered on the outskirts of Leeds.
The afternoon session has a medieval theme and will include the ever popular John Hudson talking about and demonstrating the manufacture of medieval pottery. There will be an opportunity to hear about the variety of medieval finds from West Yorkshire recorded as part of the national Portable Antiquities Scheme (which we hope will include some of the latest Treasure finds). Fifteenth and sixteenth-century timber buildings, including examples in the Leeds and Wakefield areas, will also be highlighted.
