Nicky Milsted

Nicky Milsted joined the CBA in 2004 as our YAC Communications Officer. Her main role is to edit the exclusive YAC UK members’ magazine, Young Archaeologist. Nicky also edits the YAC website and puts together the fabulous YAC Pass, which is stuffed full of fantastic offers for YAC UK members at museums and heritage centres throughout the UK.

Nicky studied English and Media Studies at the University of Sussex before working as an Editorial Assistant at the Salariya Book Company in Brighton. During her time at Salaryia, their new imprint Book House was launched, which specialises in illustrated non-fiction for children aged 5–14.

Nicky also has an MA in the Culture of Modernism from the University of York. Her studies are somewhat at odds with those of her colleagues at the CBA, in that she studied people who are still alive! Her MA dissertation focussed on the practice of photographic self-portraiture with particular reference to American photographer Judy Dater.
