Committee and contact details

The Group is run by its officers and committee, who are elected by members at the Annual General Meeting to serve for a period of three years. The officers comprise the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. The rest of the committee consists of between nine and twelve elected members and up to three members co-opted by the rest of the committee. The committee normally meets six times a year.

Kirsty Nichol has worked as a Commercial Archaeologist for the past 17 years. She currently splits her time between Weoley Castle Ruins, Birmingham and Lydiard Park, Wiltshire, where she runs the outreach and education programmes for a Medieval Fortified Manor House and palimpsestic Country Park and Palladian Mansion respectively.
Having specialised for the majority of her career in Industrial Archaeology her current research interests include life on the home front and military supply for the Great War and WWII, and she is never happier than when she is in a concrete bunker or air raid shelter!
Kirsty is also Leader of the Birmingham Young Archaeologists Club as well as Chair of CBA WM and Newsletter Editor.

John Hunt is a Fellow of The Institute for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Sciences and a Research Fellow in the School of Historical Studies at the University of Birmingham. He is also a member of the University's Centre for West Midlands History.
John is a Trustee of the CBA as well as being Vice-Chair of CBA WM.

Sheena Payne-Lunn is the Historic Environment Record Officer for Worcester City Council Archaeology Section.
Sheena is also co-leader of the very active Worcestershire Young Archaeologists Club which obtained nearly £50,000 in January 2008 from the Heritage Lottery Fund for the Northwick Manor Community Heritage Project, an initiative bringing together a number of partners to deliver a varied programme of educational and community activities.
Sheena is also Editor of West Midlands Archaeology.

Jan Pick
Jan is a teacher and has for a number of years worked specifically in heritage environments for the complete range of BMAG sites amongst others. She is also a member of Kingsheath LHS and a fount of all knowledge on researching historical figures and family histories.

Esme Hookway
Esme is a final year undergraduate student at the University of Birmingham studying archaeology. During the degree she has taken part in fieldwork looking at WWII sites on Alderney, a medieval longhouse in Cumbria and been on a Study Tour studying the Spanish Civil War. This summer she was very privileged and happy to have taken part in the No Man's Land project, excavating WWI sites in Belgium.

Peter Crouch is a part-time consultant for the Nickel Institute with an interest in archaeology.
Before he retired he was successively an industrial chemist, a computer software developer and a junior civil servant.
In his spare time he is Chairman and Web Editor of BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, Fortran Specialist Group and Membership Secretary of the BCS Birmingham and Wolverhampton Branches.
In the last few years his interest in archaeology has taken him to visit the remains of Roman cities in Tunisia and Italy, Visigothic churches in Spain, as well as to Istanbul, Troy and the remains of Greek cities in Asia Minor.

Emma Hancox Emma Hancox

Emma Hancox is the Historic Environment Record Officer for Worcestershire Historic Environment and Archaeology Service.
Her main interest lies in the archaeology and history of north-west Worcestershire, particularly the development of Redditch New Town.
Emma is also treasurer for the Worcestershire Young Archaeologists' Club.

Mike Hodder has been Birmingham City Council's Planning Archaeologist since the post was created in 1994. He advises on the management of archaeological sites of all dates and types throughout the city as part of the planning and development process.
He also maintains the city's Sites and Monuments Record and initiates and encourages research into the city's archaeology.
Mike is particularly interested in the links between the historic and natural environments and in making information about Birmingham's archaeology accessible to as many people as possible.
