CBA Training
CBA three-year workshop programme
The three-year programme of workshops was planned in consultation with CBA Regional Groups in England and Wales in 2007. Since then, five workshops have been delivered on group governance, planning and the historic environment, and buildings archaeology. Further workshops on historic buildings are being planned for early 2010. PowerPoint presentations from workshops and further information may be found at:
CBA workshops are funded by English Heritage and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
AIA/CBA day schools in industrial archaeology
The Association for Industrial Archaeology (AIA) and the CBA launched a series of day schools on industrial buildings with two national day schools in Manchester and Bristol in September and November 2008. Regional day schools commenced in February 2009.
Day schools are primarily for volunteers who comment on listed building applications, but are also for CBA and AIA members. They consider different types of industrial buildings, looking at the archaeology of the buildings and their industrial contexts, and discuss the problems that may be encountered in their preservation and adaptive re-use.
The AIA/CBA day schools are funded by English Heritage.
