The CBA signs on to Wildlife and Countryside Link’s response to DEFRA’s consultation on future reform of Common Agricultural Policy

February

The CBA responds to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) on the Triennial Review of the Treasure Valuation Committee.

The CBA writes to the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities to express serious concern at the announcement that the Greater Manchester Archaeological Unit is being closed by Manchester University. It will cease to operate from 16 March 2012, removing archaeological advisory services to local planning authorities.

The CBA joins major national conservation and environmental bodies to support the CLG Select Committeee’s definition of sustainable development and seeks its adoption in the new National Planning Policy Framework. The CBA responds to Suffolk County Council’s consultation on a new heritage organisation for Suffolk emphasising the importance of the archaeological planning services and the Historic Environment Record.

The CBA writes again in response to announcements about budget cuts in Middlesbrough and Redcar & Cleveland Councils, which will end provision of archaeology services through Tees Archaeology, and seeks assurances about the continuation of archaeology advisory services and the HER

The CBA writes to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council about its proposed budget cuts to archaeology services from Tees Archaeology

The CBA responds to the Welsh Assembly Government’s consultation on Introducing Standard Information Requirements for Planning Applications in Wales and seeks improvement to the information required for validation of listed building applications in Wales

The CBA supports the publication of Blueprint for Water 2010 calling for action to manage water and landscapes sustainably

The CBA responds to English Heritage’s consultation on thematic research strategies for prehistoric archaeology, the urban historic environment and the historic industrial environment

The CBA and Archaeology Scotland sign on to a letter to George Lyon MEP regarding his draft report on the future of CAP after 2013. Link member organisations believe the draft report does little more than attempt to justify the status quo, and it shows insufficient appreciation of the environmental responsibilities of the agricultural sector.

The CBA signs on to the response to the Conservative Planning Green Paper from Wildlife and Countryside Link.

The CBA and Archaeology Scotland sign on to letters to George Lyon MEP and to UK MEPs on CAP reform. Wildlife and Countryside Link and Scottish Environment Link members emphasise the need for the CAP reform to deliver a very wide range of environmental public goods, including protection of cultural landscapes and historic environment features, as well as meeting existing environmental challenges such as preventing biodiversity loss and climate change adaptation and mitigation.

The CBA responds to the consultation on improving engagement by statutory and non-statutory consultees.

The CBA responds to the consultation on the Ecclesiastical Exemption (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Order 2010.

The CBA responds to the consultation on permitted development rights for small scale renewable and low carbon energy technologies, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
