The 2005 HEIRNET survey was commissioned by HEIRNET and research was
undertaken by the Archaeology Data Service in York, UK, on behalf of HEIRNET.
The card-sort toolkit used in the survey was borrowed from the JISC funded
Contextual Resource Evaluation Environment (CREE) project and was originally
developed at the University of Hull as part of the Iconex project. It
is available via the Iconex repository at
http://www.iconex.hull.ac.uk/
under Generic Objects. The CREE project members were also kind enough
to give their input on a draft of the survey and pass comment on it. Chief
researcher during the design phase of the survey was Jon Kenny at the
ADS, and analysis of the results was undertaken by Jeannette Brewer and
William Kilbride at the ADS. Technical aspects of the survey implementation
and data gathering were handled by Jen Mitcham at the ADS. Funding for
the analysis and this report was provided by ADS, ALGAO, the Council for
British Archaeology, English Heritage NMR, the Portable Antiquities Scheme,
and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historic Monuments of Scotland.
