- Liverpool Museum Field Archaeology Unit - The Liverpool Museums Field Unit is one of the longest established departments working in the north west of England. It began in 1977 as part of a Merseyside County service, initially with the support of Liverpool University. It then transferred to Merseyside County Museums. With the abolition of the county of Merseyside in 1986, the department became part of the National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside (now National Museums Liverpool). The field unit's remit since then has been to undertake archaeological research in the north west. This has involved excavations and field and aerial photographic surveys. - Wood Hall Archaeological Trust Ltd - A private company, limited by guarantee and a registered charity, which is based in the Selby District of North Yorkshire. It grew out of the Wood Hall Moated Manor Project, a highly successful long-term excavation, including a large education and training element, on a medieval moated site in North Yorkshire. Now that Wood Hall is nearing publication, the staff of WHAT Ltd are able to undertake other projects.
