Information Skills and Resources for Historic Environment Professionals
There are places still available on this course, offered by the Department for Continuing Education at the University of Oxford on 25 February.
Changing technologies and working practices throughout the heritage sector mean that all heritage professionals increasingly require information skills in order to carry out their core tasks. This day course is intended to equip heritage professionals with an appreciation of the skills needed to negotiate this rapidly evolving and complex environment.
The course will cover a wide range of topics and provide guidance on how to avoid the pitfalls as well as how to reap the benefits of information technologies. The topics covered will include the use of the internet as an information resource and information delivery mechanism, citation, publishing and archiving of digital material and how organisations such as the Archaeology Data Service (ADS) and the Council for British Archaeology (CBA) and the Institute for Archaeologists (IfA) can help.
