Consultation on New Scottish Heritage Bill Announced

A public consultation on a new bill was announced at yesterday’s conference of the Historic Environment Advisory Council for Scotland, in Edinburgh.

The bill, announced by the Minister for Culture, External Affairs and the Constitution, Michael Russell MSP, is intended to amend provisions for protecting archaeological sites and historic buildings in Scotland. The Ancient Monuments and Listed Buildings (Amendment) Bill aims to enhance and improve the existing legislation for the historic environment. The consultation runs until 14 August 2009.
