Registration opens for Festival 2010

This year the CBA is celebrating 20 years of inspiring events, which have been encouraging people all around the UK to take an active interest in archaeology and the historic environment around them.

2010 will see our biggest celebration of archaeology yet and we want you to be involved!

Great Bowden Garden Dig 2009 Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy event 2009 In 2009 over 650 events were held by archaeological and heritage organisations and societies across the UK as part of the newly expanded Festival and it proved to be a great success. Why not be a part of this UK-wide archaeological extravaganza in 2010?

There are plenty of opportunities for you to take part in the Festival of British Archaeology, either as an event organiser or as a visitor to one of the hundreds of events that are taking place in July and August. Events will be held at a huge variety of venues, with a vast array of formats and themes.

Holding events during this special fortnight presents an excellent opportunity for you to promote your work of your organisation, engage with your local communities and help everyone to engage with archaeology and the wider historic environment.

The Festival is co-ordinated by the Council for British Archaeology and is entirely reliant on the participation and support of heritage groups, societies and organisations around the UK. It runs for a fortnight from Saturday 17 July to Sunday 1 August. The Festival complements and sits alongside Scottish Archaeology Month (SAM), which takes place every September, and Archaeology Days in Northern Ireland in June.
