Marsh Archaeology Award 2010 Announced

The Council for British Archaeology (CBA) and the Marsh Christian Trust have announced details of the 2010 Marsh Archaeology Award.

This year the Award will be given to a voluntary group or individual active in the UK in order to recognise and promote high quality engagement with the stewardship of the archaeological heritage of the UK.

CBA Director, Dr Mike Heyworth, said:

All around the UK there are voluntary and community groups caring for archaeological sites and landscapes and this year’s Marsh Archaeology Award will allow us to showcase their work and promote the value of local stewardship to protect and present important archaeological evidence. People care about their local historic environment and this Award will recognise their significant contribution and the public benefit that comes from their endeavours.

The Award winner receives a cash prize of £1,000 from the Marsh Christian Trust. If appropriate, a short list of nominated projects will be published before the winner is announced to allow all highly commended projects to benefit from the associated prestige and publicity.

Nominations need to be received by the CBA before midday on 9th October 2010. Full details are downloadable from our Grants section.

The winner of the Award will be announced later in 2010.
