6.17 The Council for British Archaeology
The working party has noted above a number of areas in which the CBA might be involved. A few further specific suggestions for consideration by the trustees are included here:
- Recommendation 42: The CBA should review its handbook series and consider it whether it is effectively meeting all the needs of local groups.
- Recommendation 43: The CBA should take further initiatives to encourage the provision of training for local groups.
- Recommendation 44: The CBA should seek to facilitate, in conjunction with other national bodies, provision of more roadshows, such as those it runs itself on listed buildings.
- Recommendation 45: The CBA should provide better support for the development of its regional groups by continuing efforts to raise funds for a dedicated officer.
- Recommendation 46: The CBA should engage more directly in promoting diversity of opportunities and volunteering.
- Recommendation 47: The CBA should encourage or sponsor more national data-collection initiatives involving volunteers.
- Recommendation 48: The CBA should campaign more strongly on behalf of museum-based archaeology.
- Recommendation 49: The CBA should seek to provide better publicity for National Archaeology Days.
